As the host, the Dean of FUPI, Prof. Dr. H. Robby Habiba Abror, S.Ag., M.Hum., delivered opening remarks and an introduction: "In a hadith, it is mentioned that on the Day of Judgment, the letters in the Qur'an will be erased (raf'ul Qur'an). However, at this moment, the Qur'an is still with us. It seems that today we are facing major challenges: a crisis of role models and ecological disasters appearing everywhere, caused by deforestation, illegal logging, and various other forms of environmental destruction. Let us empathize together and pray for our brothers and sisters affected by these disasters. Furthermore, we express our gratitude to the speakers who are present to explain and dissect the book Philosophy of the Qur'an: Gateway to Divine Wisdom, a work that is highly relevant to our current situation."
As the main speaker, Prof. Dr. KH Khalid Al Walid, M.Ag., explained the key concepts in the book, including the relationship between revelation, reason, and spirituality from the perspective of Islamic philosophy. In his presentation, he emphasized that the Qur'an should not only be understood as a normative text, but also as a source of wisdom that opens space for philosophical reflection and the formation of human ethical consciousness. According to him, the philosophical approach to the Qur'an is essential to answer contemporary humanitarian crises, ranging from moral degradation to ecological damage, by making divine values the basis of orientation for thinking and acting.
Meanwhile, KH Miftah Fauzi Rakhmat, Lc., M.A., as the discussant, presented a critical analysis that made it easier for participants to understand the complexity of the thoughts presented in the book. In his review, he asserted that the Qur'an possesses a miracle of meaning that is never exhausted when explored. Every effort to deepen one's understanding of the Qur'an will actually reveal deeper and broader layers of meaning. Therefore, according to him, one of the approaches that can be used to approach and comprehend the depth of the Qur'an's meaning more comprehensively is through a philosophical approach, without neglecting its normative and spiritual dimensions.
The event, moderated by Siti Sopiyah, S.Ag., proceeded interactively with a warm Q&A session. The participants appeared enthusiastic in exploring the ideas presented, ranging from basic concepts to the practical application of the philosophy of the Qur'an in contemporary life.
This book review served not only as a forum for scholarly discussion but also as a venue for strengthening ties among academics across campuses and as an important momentum to strengthen the FUPI academic community's understanding of the Philosophy of the Qur'an in greater depth as a bridge toward divine spirituality.
