Yogyakarta, Indonesia – The Faculty of Ushuluddin, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, proudly hosts the 8th Ushuluddin International Conference, held today in the Teatrikal Room of the University Library. With the theme "The Politics of Religious Dissent in Contemporary Asia", the conference serves as a platform for academic and practical discussions on the multifaceted relationships between religion, politics, and societal change in the Asian context.

The conference convenor, Erham Budi Wiranto, expressed profound gratitude to all speakers and participants. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the purpose of this gathering:
"This conference aims to explore and examine how religion is tightly intertwined with national identity, governance, and other socio-political forces, creating fertile ground for dissent."

The Dean of the Faculty of Ushuluddin, Dr. Robby Habiba Abror, welcomed participants with a heartfelt address. Fresh from his academic endeavors in Iran, Dr. Abror shared a hopeful message about the role of Iran in fostering peace in the Middle East and liberating Palestine. With fluency in Persian, he stated:
"امیدوارم ایران بتواند صلح را در منطقه خاورمیانه حفظ کند و فلسطین را از درگیری و بی عدالتی کمک کند و رهایی بخشد."
